Recently, we friends (all managing their online businesses) had an extended argument, regarding the authenticity of Internet Business. It went like this…
Most of them thought online employees are not trustworthy, as anonymity is easier/greater online and employees can easily disappear in thin air when projects get difficult or they create blunders for their employers.
Other objection by my dear friends had, was that we are never sure the online employee we hired for our company, is either providing us with bona fide information or just playing a bluff. A 50-year-old man can pose as an 18-year-old girl and if he cheats his employer in his business, he can never be traced. Therefore, they believe that solely Internet based business would never have complete credibility.
At the same time, the group, which favored online connections, agreed that the online reputations can be fickle but believed same situation goes for offline business, as well. In the world of brick and mortar, also we witness people fleeing from the scene when things get complicated or wrong.
In this quarrel, I kept my verdict saved with me because I think commitments without ever meeting people makes things harder otherwise people are people, online or offline. Yeah, I agree it is much easier to falsify online but don’t you think the employer need to develop a keen sense of recognizing people, online or offline should not matter.
Still I don’t know if I am right but you guys can help me by sharing your perspective on the issue. Do you really think this anonymity factor can affect the vastness and dependability of Online Business?
